A Kings Legacy
On October 20, 1942, in the small town of New Willard, Tx, a Handsome Prince was born to the Parents of Mrs. Josephine Jessie Davis & Mr. Thornton Davis in which they named him James A. Davis aka “Mugsie”.
James A. Davis attended public school at Dunbar High School in Livingston, Texas, where he also Graduated. He was the captain of the football and basketball team both his junior and senior year. His favorite high school memory was when the Dunbar Leopards won the State championship his sophomore year in 1954.
In 1963, he attended Jarvis Christian's College for a year. Then, James moved to New York City. In 1966, he played Simi-pro football for the New York Ravens. Later, James received his associate's degree from Manhattan Community College. James has had many titles and occupations over the years. His last occupation was chauffeur in the city. However, James felt his favorite and most honorable title is father and grandfather. James loved to socialize, travel, and attend and watch sporting events.
James accepted Christ at an early age, and he lived his life to the fullest, praising God every step of the way. James was preceded in Death by, His Mother: Josephine Jessie Davis; Father: Thornton Davis; Grandparents: Myra & Jim Jessie, Anna & Nathan Davis; Children: Donald, Robert “Buck” Davis, James Davis; Siblings: Curtis Davis, Thornton Davis Jr, Betty Mitchell, and Anna Davis Dickerson.
James leaves to Cherish his most precious memories: a Loving Daughter: Cynthia (George) Waite; Sister-In-Law: Berly Jean Robinson; Brother-In-Law: Louis Dickerson; 7 Grandchildren: Tysheem Saunders, Jonathan Staggers, Janell Elliott, Maya Waite, Dedric Jackson, Mitchel Forte, Robert Davis Jr; 10 Great-Grandchildren: Chans, Aniyah, Brandon, Bella, Blithe, Savannah, Bless, Jeremiah, Mitchell, Jahzara, Joquisha; Special Niece: Dina Dickerson; Special Friend: Ralph Figgs Sr., and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
